Change Your Language and Change Your Life

Over the years I have discovered that sometimes the simple difference in our attitude, which of course can make a massive difference in our futures, can be as simple and subtle as the language we use. The difference in even how you talk to yourself or others.

I have found that successful people don't say what they don't want, they say what they do want. I would call that faith. Believing the best, hoping for the best and moving toward the best before you even see anything that is tangible.

A few examples of changing your language could be, instead of saying "What if somebody doesn't respond to my marketing? " you start saying, "What if they do respond?".

Instead of saying "What if this customer says no?" You say, "What if they say yes?".

Instead of "What if this employee starts and then quits?" say, "What if they start and stay?".

Instead of "What if it just doesn't work out?" say, "What if it does work out and everyone wins?".

You see my point.

I found that successful people start thinking and saying what they really want and then their minds automatically shift and pull them in that direction. And sometimes it can be that simple, just a subtle twist in vocabulary that starts the change you want to see in your life and business.

Our language can also affect how others perform and behave around us. An employee says to a boss, "I need $10 per hour." And if the business owner learns to say, "That doesn't unlock the vault here. That's not how you get $10 per hour." Then you teach your employee how to ask, "How can I earn $10 per hour?"

That is the brilliance of words. There is plenty of money in the world. There is money for everybody, but you just have to learn the magic words to get it.

Think about this.

You can't go to the stove and say give me heat before you've put any wood in the oven. You can't go to the soil and say give me a harvest before you have sown anything. The soil will just smile and say, "Who is this clown that brings me his need and brings me no seed." And if you said to the soil, "I've got this seed and if I planted it, would you work while I sleep?" And the soil says, "No problem. Give me the seed. Go to sleep and I'll be working while you're sleeping."

Simple change in language yet so important.

But here is the great news! You can start this change in your language anytime. For me it was at age 12. Today I have far surpassed over a million dollars worth of business around the world through 5 companies.

Somebody says, "What kind of revolution, what kind of change, what kind of thinking, what kind of magic had to happen? Was it you?" And I say, "No. Any person, any age, 10 to 99, can do what I did and much more!

Now, it might not take the same amount of time, but I'm telling you the same changes and the same rewards in some different fashion are available for those who pay the price. And you might find that whether it's in the beginning to help get you started, or in the middle to keep you on track, that your language can have a great impact on your results.

As they say, results is the name of the game! Everything counts, even the small stuff.

Chapter 10: Where To Find Persistence


There are probably many people who would be better at running a lawn business than me. But they quit. In fact if we lined up the best in the business I am sure we would be a little taken back by how ordinary they are. These individuals are no different than you. They just made persistence a habit.

But where do we find persistence?

We already have the answer – we need a dream. Something we want that becomes an intense desire. When that happens persistence virtually comes up from within you automatically.

Take a guy who wants a fresh and delicious donut from Krispy Kreme that is across town. It’s Friday night and the streets are packed with people and the traffic is intense. To make matters worse he has a twisted ankle and needs to use crutches. All those obstacles are certainly there but they won’t inhibit this guy from getting in his car and going after his dream. A very ‘simple’ example but I am not about to complicate the uncomplicated. The fact is that persistence is simply not quitting until you get what you want...
